Gulab jamun

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cardamom
  • 8-10 strands saffron
  • 4-5 drops lime juice
  • 1 1/2 cup milk powder
  • 1/3 cup ghee/clarified butter
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 4 tbsp flour
  • 3/4 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tbsp milk

Instructions

  • To prepare gulab jamun, first prepare sugar syrup, add sugar, water, cardamom, saffron and lime juice in a container
  • mix it well
  • boil until sugar is dissolved
  • now in a bowl add milk powder, ghee and mix it well
  • add milk and mix it , add milk in batches
  • mix it well
  • now add it to a pan and cook on low medium heat
  • mix until it comes together
  • let it cool and add it to a bowl
  • add flour, baking powder and mix it well
  • add milk and mix it
  • knead for 10 minutes
  • take a small portion and rub between palms and roll
  • drop it in hot oil and fry till golden brown on low heat
  • dip it in hot sugar syrup
  • cover for 10 minutes
  • gulab jamun is ready
