Peanut rice

Peanut rice is an Indian variety rice recipe which is prepared with peanut as the main ingredient. It is basically originated from South Indian states  and also very easy to prepare. Peanut rice is very nutritious and healthy also and you can have it for your breakfast or even as main course. Variety rices are also perfect for your lunchboxes.

Verkadalai sadam or kadale sadam are also the name of peanut rice which you can see in south India. There are also many variations and different preparation style for this recipe but this is the quickest and you have to consider it whenever you are running late. This variety rice recipe is also very delicious. To prepare this recipe you can also used leftover rice instead of cooking it freshly but you have to prepare fresh masala to get the aromatic flavourful taste.

I have also shared many other variety rice recipes and In this article here I am again sharing my another delicious peanut rice recipe with detailed step-by-step instructions with photos. Though it is very simple to prepare I would like to share few serving ideas in this recipe.

Serving-

  2. You can also serve it with raita or any coconut based chutney.
  3. vegetable salads are also very good choice along with peanut rice.

Important points-

  1. Always use the freshly prepared masala but still prepared masala can last for more than a week if kept in air tight container
  2. Use dry cooked rice

peanut rice recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp chana dal
  • 2 tbsp urad dal
  • 1/2 cup peanuts total
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 2 dry red chillies
  • 1/4 cup coconut grated
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 8-10 curry leaves
  • 2 cups cooked rice
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp lime juice

Instructions

  • To prepare peanut rice, first add chana dal, urad dal and peanut in a pan
  • dry roast it for 3-4 minutes
  • add sesame seeds and dry red chillies
  • roast it for 3 minutes on medium heat
  • add grated coconut and roast until it becomes dry
  • let it cool
  • transfer it to a blender and grind it fine
  • Now to prepare peanut rice add oil and 1/2 cup of peanuts in a pan
  • fry until it becomes crisp
  • add mustard seeds and curry leaves
  • fry it for a minute
  • add the prepared powder and mix it well
  • add the cooked rice and mix it well
  • add salt and lime juice and mix it well
  • peanut rice is ready
