Dinner rolls recipe is very easy to make at home. These are usually served with pasta and can be consumed in breakfast as well. These are also known as ladi pav recipe or pav bread recipe in India. The result of this dinner rolls recipe or ladi pav recipe is very soft and fluffy bread.

How to make dinner rolls?

This recipe is made with all purpose flour, egg, active dry yeast and butter. This is a very easy dinner rolls recipe in which I use  milk to knead the dough. Milk makes the dinner rolls super soft and fluffy. Ladi pav can be made eggless as well.

How to make dinner rolls without yeast?

pav bread or dinner rolls can be made without yeast as well. You can replace yeast with baking powder and baking soda. The result will be different in taste and texture but it can work if you don’t have yeast available at home.

Dinner Rolls

Dinner rolls are soft and spongy breads usually consumed with pasta.
Prep Time15 minutes

Servings: 12 rolls

Ingredients

For Dough

  • 150 ml water lukewarm
  • 1-1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp sugar granules or refined
  • 1 egg whole
  • 2-1/2 cup flour all purpose or plain flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 Tbsp water
  • 3 Tbsp butter room temperature
  • flour for kneading

For Glaze

  • 1 egg whole

Instructions

  • Take lukewarm water in a bowl.
  • Add active dry yeast and sugar to it and mix it.
  • Add one egg and mix it well using a fork.
  • Now add the flour and mix.
  • Add 1 tsp salt and some water, mix and knead to prepare a soft dough.
  • Add room temperature butter to it, mix and combine it.
  • Add some flour and knead the dough for at least 10 minutes.
  • Tuck the dough to make it smooth from the top, transfer to a greased bowl and cover it with a cling wrap. Leave it until doubles in size.
  • When done, take out the cling wrap and punch the dough to release the air. Knead it a little.
  • Now divide the dough into 12 equal parts. Roll each part into ball shape. It should be smooth on the top.
  • Place all 12 rolled smooth balls in a baking tray lined with a baking sheet. Place them a little distance apart.
  • Cover it with a cling wrap and leave it for 1 hour or until doubles in size.
  • Now beat an egg using a fork and apply this egg wash on the balls very gently.
  • Place it in the preheated oven at 175°C/350°F for 15-20 minutes or until done.
  • Take them out and let it cool. Dinner rolls are ready.

  7. Now add some flour and knead the dough for at least 10 minutes.
  8. Tuck the dough to make it smooth from the top, transfer to a greased bowl and cover it with a cling wrap. Leave it until doubles in size.
  9. When done, take out the cling wrap and punch the dough to release the air. Knead it a little.
