Main ingredient used to prepare mishti doi are milk, hung curd and sugar or you can also replace it with jaggery . it is a very unique flavour can be prepared easily. it is high in sugar and fat content.

How to eat mishti doi?

In bengal people eat mishti doi with rice but in North India people like to eat it as a dessert.

Shelf life-

mishti dahi will lasts upto 1 week if kept in refrigerator.

Important tips-

  1. to make mishti doi more thick you can also add milk powder to it
  2. people also add condensed milk in place of sugar in mishti doi for the thickness and colour.
  3. you can replace sugar with jaggery in mishti doi.
  4. you can also place the container in warm place in place of keeping it on the gas or stove.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cup sugar
  • 4 tbsp water
  • 1 1/2 litre milk
  • 1 1/2 cup hung curd

Instructions

  • first take a 1/2 cup of sugar and 4 tbsp of water, boil it until it caramelises and turns brown
  • add 1/2 cup of milk and mix it well until no lumps formed
  • add 1 1/2 litre of milk, mix it well and let it boil for 15 minutes
  • add 3/4 cup of sugar, mix well and let it cool
  • now take 1 1/2 cup of hung curd and whisk it for few minutes
  • now add the lukewarm milk to it and mix it well
  • take a clay pot, pour the mixture to it.
  • cover it with aluminium foil and wrap it with the towel 
  • place it in a big vessel and close the lid
  • keep it in the lowest heat for 2 hours
  • turn off the heat and let it cool
  • take it out and your mishti doi is ready
