What is cutlet

Cutlet is an Indian version of mixed and mashed vegetable also which is a fried snack.  cutlet is the word derived from french cotelette refers to a thin slice of meat, or a dish made of such slice, or a mashed vegetables fried with bread. This recipe is also one such mashed vegetables recipe prepared with carrot, peas, beetroot and onion. Crispy delicious cutlet is a perfect evening or teatime snack too to enjoy with your family and friends.

Variations

There are many variations of cutlet you can see today, usually cutlets prepared with potato and beans but in this recipe I have used potato, beetroot and carrot as well. there are also many meat cutlets prepared all over the world but in India cutlet is usually prepared with vegetables and spicy masala. you can also add any other vegetables if you want but this delicious recipe is enough to enjoy with your loved ones.  This recipe is also one of my all time favourite and today I am sharing my cutlet in this article.

How to make cutlet

It is easy to prepare vegetable cutlet, just you have to co all the vegetables on medium heat and mash it by adding other ingredients, and give it a required shape, later dip it and coat with flour paste and bread crumbs and fry it in hot oil on medium heat until done. your cutlet is ready to serve. I have also shared all the detailed step-by-step process with photos in this article to help you learn how to make cutlet easily.

Ingredients

  • 2 tsp oil
  • 2 green chilli
  • 2 medium onion
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tbsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 1/2 cup green beans
  • 1 cup carrot grated
  • 1/2 cup peas
  • 1 cup beetroot grated
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 cup potatoes boiled and mashed
  • 1 tsp amchoor
  • 1/4 cup coriander leaves
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup water
  • bread crumbs

Instructions

  • To prepare cutlet, add oil, green chilli, onion, in a pan and fry until translucent
  • add ginger-garlic paste and mix it well
  • now add coriander powder, red chilli powder, garam masala and mix it well
  • add green beans, carrot, peas, beetroot and mix it well
  • add salt and mix it
  • cover and cook until it becomes soft
  • give it a mix
  • add potatoes, mash and mix it well
  • add amchoor and coriander leaves and mix it well
  • let it cool
  • now in a bowl add flour, water and mix it well
  • make a runny paste
  • apply oil on the palm and take a small portion and give it a heart shape
  • dip it in prepared flour paste and bread crumbs
  • remove extra crumbs and place it on a plate
  • refrigerate it for 15 minutes
  • drop it in hot oil
  • fry until golden brown on medium heat
  • cutlet is ready

  15. remove extra crumbs and place it on a plate
  16. refrigerate it for 15 minutes
  17. drop it in hot oil
  18. fry until golden brown on medium heat
